El Salvador coffees are a long-time staple for Peets, once the number two producing country in the world. In its heyday, most of the coffee production in El Salvador was Bourbon variety, but when coffee leaf rust hit Central America, the Bourbon variety was devastated. Crops were affected so badly that regions that had been lush farms were reduced to sticks of single stems, no leaves in sight...
