Butterfly School at Bunum-Wo Estate
Papua New Guinea’s Bunum-Wo Estate is one of the largest and most established coffee farms in the region. Peet’s has been working with the estate for more than 40 years, partnering with them to support the operation of the Butterfly School, which serves over 100 young children of the farm’s workforce and the surrounding community.
When parents are working at the mill or on the farm, they can leave their children at the school, guaranteeing that their children are supervised during the day while receiving educational enrichment and health care.
Peet’s’ ongoing fiscal support for the school enabled the recent construction of an additional classroom building plus school supplies, books, and other educational materials. The name of the school harkens to the estate’s insignia, a graceful blue butterfly.
