Brazil Bright River
ROASTING IN JULY
This limited release comes from the Rio Brilhante estate, a family-owned farm named after the clear, sparkling river that nourishes the land. It offers a pleasingly soft, sweet cup that’ll give your mood a twinkle too.
DELICATE BEANS GET THE ATTENTION THEY DESERVE
The Cerrado Mineiro Region where the beans are grown was the first in Brazil to receive Designation of Origin status, recognizing its unique and high-quality coffee production. At Peet's, we’re well-practiced at roasting the area’s more delicate beans to bring out their best, so even our dark roast fans will want to give this exceptional medium roast a second look.
MACADAMIA: THE COVETED TASTING NOTE
You’ll find our Brazil Bright River is characterized by notes of macadamia nut, almond butter, even sticky bun, and a plush, full-bodied mouthfeel. We’re favoring espresso brewing due to the excellent crema these beans produce, although French Press and drip are great options too. To enhance the creamy, nutty profile, add your favorite milk—an almond milk latte would be dreamy perfection, hot or iced.
NOTES FROM THE PEET’S ROASTERY
In their green state, these beans are gorgeous. Light green with an ochre tinge and some visible silverskin, which we’re renaming ‘copperskin’ for these beans, as that more accurately describes the color.
Brazil grows a lot of coffee, and we know how to roast it to bring out its best. This roast moved steadily and responded well to changes in heat. Only one or two pops were audible at first crack, then the coffee stayed quiet after that. The fact that first crack was almost inaudible can present a small challenge, but it’s one that makes us glad for our hours (and hours) roasting. You get a sense for the coffee’s readiness, and when one cue isn’t quite there, you bring in your other senses. Second crack was the same, and our senses were working overtime.
Especially when it came to cupping our trial roasts. We were able to evaluate with the Coffee Team and we definitely hit the mark on this one in order to showcase the surprising acidity, sweetness, and depth of Brazil Bright River. While all our test roast profiles had their positive qualities, there was one that hit the party line: delicate acidity, full, and clean. Notes of nougat, macadamia nut, brown sugar, and a lovely floral note in the aroma. We’ll be drinking this at home. Frequently.
